Welcome to Guides in Alaska

Alaska, the name is a rough version of the Aleut words meaning "Great Land." Alaska is also known as "The Last Frontier," "Land of the midnight sun," and many others. Alaska is home to hundreds of rivers, and glaciers, thousands of islands, and mountains, over a million lakes and ponds. Any of these are accessible with ambition though some take more money, skill, and straight up guts to reach.

Over a million and a half people flock to Alaska annually for its adventure, wildlife, scenic wilderness, fishing, and hunting, culture and more. Guides are an essential resource in Alaska. They are trained, experienced, certified to various degrees, and there to make sure you are safe, informed and have an excellent experience.

The Guides in Alaska Project is an attempt to document all of Alaska's geographical features, lifeforms, routes, and more with in-depth information and photos. We also list guides and outfitters, while listing where they guide in what capacity. Slowly we will also integrate other information relevant to Alaska. We hope guides will contribute their knowledge to the site because they're often the best informed.
